Kiruna, located 200 km north of the arctic circle, undertakes a huge transformation, as the entire city has to move some km to east, because of the iron ore mine’s expansion. Seventeen km from Kiruna is the world famous Icehotel located, in Jukkasjarvi. Since 2016 it’s possible to stay overnight in the Icehotel, also during summer time, due to a specially designed 2100 square meter ice art hall. If weather conditions permit, you can experience the Midnight sun, 24 hours of daylight, during summer time and the Northern light, “Aurora Borealis”, during winter time.
