Bohuslan – the beautiful west-coast of Sweden

Heading from Gothenburg, we first reach Kungalv, dating back to the Viking times. The Norwegians, 700 years ago, constructed the impressive fortress Bohus. Along the main street, Vastra gatan, you can admire beautiful old wooden houses. From the Tjorn bridge you have an enchanting view over the archipelago. The tour continues across the island Tjorn, to the small fishing village Kladesholmen, famous for the fish industries. We take a walk on the narrow streets and along windswept rocks. In the picturesque village of Skarhamn, we make a stop at the Nordic Watercolour Museum. The museum serves as a Nordic center for contemporary art, for research and training. After visiting the museum, return to Gothenburg.

Cruise on the Dalsland’s Canal

From Gothenburg we head north along the Gota River, towards the province Dalsland, – a Sweden in miniature. Here we board a canal ship, taking us on a half day canal cruise, through unspoiled nature beauty and some of the 28 locks. Passing the famous aqueduct in Haverud, you will experience a unique crossing point of waterway, railway and road. Lunch is served on board the ship. Visit the famous arts and crafts exhibition in the village Upperud, where crafts from local artisans are exposed, and also for sale. Return to Gothenburg in the afternoon. Canal cruises run regularly from approx. June 25th to Aug 25th. Other dates may be available on special request.

Visit the home textiles district of Sweden – Countryside scenery

Departure from Gothenburg, we head southeast towards the home textiles district of Sweden. The first stop will be at ﬂax factory and factory outlet shop in Horred. The owners of this flax factory have kept the production within the same family for ten generations, since the 17th century. A guided tour in the factory, will show modern technology of today’s flax production. This flax factory is a purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden. In the showroom beautiful flax products are exhibited and those are also for sale. The next visit will be at Rydal Textile Museum. The exhibition shows the local history of the textile industrial development. There are basic exhibitions in the museum, showing the textile industry development, as well as an exposition of the local history during the past 100 years. Several temporary exhibitions during the year. Next to the museum is a shop where you can buy local craft.

Marstrand – sailer’s paradise

In a short distance, northwest of Gothenburg, you find one of Sweden’s most picturesque small towns, Marstrand, a well know place for sailing enthusiasts. The impressive 17th century fortress rises on a rock in the middle of the Marstrand island. Once Lasse-Maja, the Robin Hood of the north, was a prisoner here. Enjoy the enchanting view of the sea from its walls. Take a stroll along the narrow streets, where car traffic is forbidden.

Bronze Age rock carvings

Rock carvings at Vitlycke, a UNESCO world Heritage site from the Bronze Age. Those remarkable motifs carved into the rock at Vitlycke, give us an echo from our ancestors 3000 years ago. In the museum and Bronze Age village more explanations are given to how life was like during those days. Our tour will also take us along the beautiful Swedish west coast, visiting some of the picturesque fishing villages.

Along the Gota River – the locks in Trollhattan – “King Of the forest” – the Elk Museum

The impressive locks at Trollhattan, allow ships to a lengths of 90 meters passing through. Th total height difference is 32 meters, divided into 4 locks. Not far from Trollhattan is the Roya hunting ground for elk. Maybe you will get a glimpse of the “King of the forest” . At least you will meet him in the special Elk Museum.

Fishing tours

Try your fishing luck at the Skagerack Sea (inner part of the North Sea). A smaller, modern fishing boat, for maximum 12 passengers, will take you to the best fishing places at sea.
